We had a mentally challenged young girl brought by her very poor parents who was screaming and in intense distress due to ear pain. She has been suffering like this for the past 2 weeks with no help from anyone. We examined her ear and found many maggots(hatched insect eggs with crawling creatures) which were causing this poor soul such trouble which she couldn’t vocalise due to her lack of ability to communicate. She required multiple sessions of cleaning of her ear and we had to sedate her with anesthesia to get rid of all the insects. The smile she gave us all and the comfort she felt after the treatment can only be matched by the profound thankfulness we as a team felt in serving her and getting her back to normal.
